Job summary

MANTECH is seeking a Naval Architect to design and analyze hovercraft, ships, and maritime systems. You will perform CFD/FEA analyses, validate designs, and collaborate with teams to ensure performance, safety and efficiency for military and commercial customers.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in naval or related engineering field, 3+ years CFD experience, and ability to work on-site near Washington DC. Active Secret Clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • 3+ years of naval architecture experience with a CFD focus.
  • Proficiency in CFD tools (Star-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) and FEA tools (Femap, NASTRAN, ANSYS).
  • Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, hydrodynamics and maritime systems.
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling; strong documentation and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Python or MATLAB for automation and post-processing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform naval architecture design and analysis for hovercraft, ships, and marine systems.
  • Conduct CFD and FEA analyses to assess performance and optimize design.
  • Collaborate with engineers, PMs and CAD designers to validate assumptions and deliverables.
  • Develop Plans of Action and Milestones and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Document findings and present results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
