Job summary

Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks a lifeguard at Naval Base Ventura County. The role safeguards swimmers, enforces safety rules, and supports aquatic training and recreation in a DoD environment.

You will perform rescues, CPR, first aid, and environmental monitoring; document water and weather conditions; certify aquatic assessments; orient new patrons; and coordinate with security and medical teams during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pool safety rules.
• Knowledge of DoD, DON and CNIC policies and procedures governing aquatic assessment testing and certifications.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures of MWR regarding aquatics facilities use.

Responsibilities

• Performs all pool lifeguard responsibilities (supervising swimmers, monitoring activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules).
• Observes conditions of area for hazards and ensures a safe environment; removes hazards when necessary.
• Performs rescue work, renders CPR/first aid, and calls for medical assistance as needed.
• Documents water and weather conditions.
• Administers aquatic assessment testing and certifications.
• Provides introductory equipment orientations.
• Checks IDs and collects usage fees if applicable.
• Acts as liaison between activity, security, medical, and Aquatics Coordinator during emergencies.
