Job Description
  • Must enjoy and have knowledge of nature and the outdoors and a strong desire to help young children learn about the world and the environment.
  • Energetic and comfortable spending extended periods of time outdoors, in all seasons and in all kinds of safe weather conditions.
  • Comfortable engaging in nature, getting dirty, and being with and/or near all types of animals (insects, reptiles, small mammals, birds, etc.).
  • Provide a safe, stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning environment for children 3-5 years of age, giving children the opportunity to develop social-emotional, language, intellectual, and physical skills.
  • Hours and Days: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., flexible morning and afternoon shifts available.
  • Locations: Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee, KS 66218 and Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 5010 W. 95th St., Prairie Village, KS 66207.
  • Salary: $16.00 per hour.
  • Hours: 15-30 hours per week with flexible shifts between 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND one of the following:
  • Associate degree or higher degree in early childhood, child development, or a related academic discipline from a regionally accredited college/university or
  • Technical certificate or diploma in early childhood or
  • Child Development Associate Credential or
  • 3 semester hours of academic study in early childhood, child development, or a related academic discipline & three months of experience in early childhood education providing direct care and supervision to children 3-5 years old or
  • 6 months of experience in early childhood education providing direct supervision to children 3-5 years old.

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision.
  • Shows a knowledge and love of working with children.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
