Job summary

Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD) is seeking Naturalists to lead nature-based youth programs across multiple sites. The role emphasizes curriculum development, outdoor education, and engagement with children and animals. Two open positions exist, with an hourly rate and flexible evenings/weekends.

As part of a small team, you’ll design activities, manage materials, and oversee volunteers while promoting environmental awareness and safety across district sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, biology, recreation, interpretation or similar field of study.
• Experience in MS Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, market and implement interpretive programs for all ages in groups.
• Develop curriculum and materials for interpretive programs and displays.
• Organize and maintain a safe, clean program space and animal displays.
• Recruit, train and oversee volunteers and Naturalist Aides.
• Assist with marketing and outreach of programs.
• Create training material and procedures
