Job summary

City of Farmington Hills seeks a preschool instructor to assist the Lead Teacher in guiding outdoor classrooms with forest school principles. You will help with group management, assessments, and ensure safety during sessions.

Qualifications include excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and a valid Michigan driver’s license; college coursework or a degree is preferred. The role is 10–20 hours per week, weekdays 9am–4pm, seasonal to year-round.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:

Experience in outdoor programming, environmental education, teaching, childcare, summer camp or related experience desired.

EDUCATION:

College coursework and/or degree preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING:

Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as good organizational skills required. Ability to work independently and successfully lead Environmental Education programs for groups of all ages is required, in addition to knowledge of the natural world. Valid MI driver's license with good driving record is required.

START DATE & WORK SCHEDULE:

Starting ASAP, seasonal to year-round. 10-20 hours per week. Weekdays M-F 9am-4pm.
