THE CITY OF LEAWOOD, KANSAS is looking for a Nature Center Attendant (Part-Time Position)
Come join our team as a Nature Center Attendant at our Prairie Oak Nature Center, where every day is different!
The Nature Center Attendant assists the Nature Center Coordinator in providing nature-based programming, animal care, and events at the Prairie Oak Nature Center events. You will get to help and learn about some of the exciting animals that live at the Nature Center, including the famous Yellow-footed Tortoise, Tio and many more interesting animals. If you have a pumpkin lying around, bring it in, and Tio will be your best friend!
There are no evening shifts; shifts range from 4 to 6 hours, with the average weekly hours being approximately 15-19. Work at the Prairie Oak Nature Center, where you get paid to watch some cute animals and interact with a variety of visitors to the Center!

Here is a little more information about what your day would look like as the Nature Center Attendant:You will greet and walk visitors around the Prairie Oak Nature Center’s vast nature-based collections, including but not limited to live animals, aquariums, flora, and fauna. Assist with the feeding, cleaning, and enriching of animals housed at the Nature Center. Lead nature-based programming and group activities for birthday parties and special events. Assists the Nature Education Coordinator in developing, implementing, and facilitating nature-based programs for all ages. Assists in implementing and maintaining educational displays, exhibits, and static displays of natural biological items, including rocks, fossil seeds, and pelts.
Minimum Requirements: Must be 18 years old or older. Minimum of one (1) years of experience working in a customer service-based position. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children of all ages. Experience in outdoor education, teaching, or animal care preferred.

The Nature Center Attendant position is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position.
