What We Need

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Natural Resources Technician 3 within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Muskingum River State Park in Morgan County. The address is 547 East Riverside Drive, McConnelsville, Ohio 43756. Typical hours are 7:30AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday, with some weekend work between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

This position requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without restrictions and the ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license within one year of hire.

What You Will Do
  • Work outdoors in Ohio’s beautiful parks;
  • Lead lock operations, grounds, and facility maintenance;
  • Operate and maintain the historic Muskingum River Navigation System;
  • Maintain park equipment and vehicles;
  • Interact with park visitors;
  • Operate a boat to mark and maintain navigation channels;
  • Starting pay is $21.63/hr with increases over 5.5 years to $24.66/hr.
Training and Development

Must obtain a pesticide license within one year; watercraft operators must complete a boat operator course as required by Ohio law.

Unusual Working Conditions

Exposure to dirt, fumes, chemicals, water, weather, machinery, odors, and wildlife; work may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 12 months of safety, tools, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or equipment operation experience; or
  • 6 months as Natural Resources Technician 2 with a CDL; or
  • Equivalent qualifications.
