Job summary

MSU Extension is seeking a Natural Resources Communications Manager to lead the storytelling for the Michigan Natural Features Inventory, MSU Center for Lakes and Streams, Michigan Sea Grant Extension, and Woods & Wildlife Team. You will develop and implement communication strategies that elevate visibility and understanding of natural resources programming across the state.

You will collaborate with editors and designers, manage digital content for MSU Extension websites and social channels,

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Journalism, Telecommunications, or Public Relations.
• 1-3 years in public/media relations, publishing, marketing, or related fields; social media content management experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Familiarity with basic computer terminology and using email/Internet.

Responsibilities

• Plan and produce online communications and publications to inform the public about MSU Extension issues.
• Identify information sources, conduct surveys and interviews for content.
• Edit and design programs and materials for publication.
• Coordinate with artists, photographers, printers; oversee work in progress.
• Assist with web development and digital enhancements for the unit.
• Maintain files and statistics; support advertising coordination.
