HOURLY RATE: $16.00 - 21.00 per hour (based on relevant experience)

SUMMARY: The Natural Areas Trails and Visitor Amenities Crew Member is a

Part-time (under 29 hours per week) position with the City of Fort Collins

Natural Areas Dept. We are currently looking to fill one vacant position on

the Trails and Visitor Amenities Team. This employee will perform a variety of

skilled and semi-skilled tasks in natural areas maintenance. These activities

can include: trail and fence construction, repair, and maintenance;

trash and litter removal; vault toilet cleaning; installation of signs;

construction and repairs of public amenities; planting and seeding; weed

control; and other maintenance activities on natural area sites of varying

size

This position will be expected to work 29 hours/week. With a preferred

schedule of Wednesday - Friday. Each day will be 9-10 hour workdays.

This position is hourly and does not provide insurance or retirement benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and

responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position

And Are Not Intended To Be All Inclusive

  • Constructs and maintains soft surface trails;
  • Removes trash and litter from natural area sites;
  • Cleans vault toilets;
  • Constructs and repairs kiosks, sign frames, fences, boardwalks,

irrigation systems, and other structures; Installs signs, benches, and

other structures;

  • Controls vegetation through mowing, cutting, spraying herbicides, and

other techniques;

  • May assist with gravel parking lot grading operations including use of heavy

equipment;

  • May plant, water, and provide other aftercare of native plants;
  • Operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs on equipment and vehicles

such as mowers, trucks, sprayers, water pumps, etc;

  • Work with integrity and maintain a safe work environment;
  • Perform other related work as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED: Various motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, small dump

trucks, trailer , etc. Also operates specialized equipment such as

mowers, skid steers, toolcats, mini-excavators, rollers, weed

whips, snowplows, etc. May require use of various power and manual tools

as needed to perform all aspects of the job such as rakes, saws, drills,

wrenches, etc. The job will require the occasional use of standard office

equip

Supervision Received: Receives supervision from the Natural Areas Trails and

Visitor Amenities Supervisor with field guidance from Natural Areas

Technicians

Supervision Exercised: May oversee volunteer groups of varying sizes.
