Job summary

The Kohala Center seeks a Waihona Native Collections Manager to lead living collections, seed banks, and canoe crop inventories, advancing restoration and knowledge transmission with communities.

You will manage a small team, write grants, develop work plans and budgets, track data, and help grow a digital waihona that expands ʻili ʻāina restoration. Based at Keawewai with travel to Nāmoku and other sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in ecological restoration, agroforestry, or living collections management.
• Proven grant writing, budgeting, and reporting experience.
• Experience with digital knowledge repositories or wikis is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Hawaiian ecosystems and restoration practices.
• Ability to document and edit in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee living collections, seed banks, and canoe crop inventories.
• Lead grant strategy, budgets, and work plans for TKC waihona initiatives.
• Develop and maintain data tracking for a digital waihona platform.
• Supervise staff, apprentices, and volunteers and provide mentoring.
• Foster partnerships with local nurseries and agricultural groups.
