Job Description

Title: Native Language Teaching Assistant (Pashto Bilingual)

Location: Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Elementary

Supervisor: Building Principal(s) and Director of Bilingual Programs

Job Summary: The Native Language Teaching Assistant works under the direct supervision of the ESL/Bilingual teacher and under the broad supervision of the building principal(s) and Director of Multilingual Programs.

Essential Functions: The Teaching Assistant shall assume the following duties:

• Provide native language literacy and/or math instruction to small groups of students.
• Assist in supporting ESL classrooms and/or general education classrooms as determined by the supervisor(s).
• Assist in translation/interpretation in appropriate native languages of students and families.
• Perform all other duties and tasks assigned from time to time by the supervisor as it relates to individual students or the classroom.

Qualifications: Must meet all requirements for the position as designated by the ISBE. Paraprofessional Certificate or 60 hours of college credit are required.
