Job summary

The Minnesota Historical Society invites applications for the Intern - Native American Initiatives Intern position. This part-time, temporary role supports program facilitation, community outreach, and administrative tasks within the Native American Initiatives department.

Based in St. Paul, the intern will assist with NAMF recruitment, seminars, and materials, with a flexible schedule around school commitments. The program includes seminars and a final presentation on May 23.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate within 12 months.
• Preferred fields: History, anthropology, public history, sociology, library/archives, or related degrees.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain an open mind.
• Collaborate effectively in team environments.
• Exercise discretion with confidential information discussed in private project meetings.
• Adapt flexibly to evolving plans and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Engage in recruitment and program planning for the Native American Museum Fellowship (NAMF).
• Manage NAMF-related administrative tasks such as accruing program materials.
• Work with other MNHS departments to coordinate NAMF seminar guests and internships.
• Coordinate 2-3 community outreach tabling events for NAMF recruitment at MN-local colleges and Native gathering spaces.
• Attend community outreach events if able.
• Organize MNHS NAI program materials.
