Job summary

The Tucson Indian Center is hiring a Native American Cancer Project Health Educator in Tucson, Arizona. This part-time temporary role involves delivering cancer screening education to women with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and coordinating closely with community health agencies.

Candidates should have an Associate’s degree in Health Education or a related field and experience in community health education. A valid Arizona Driver's License is required along with CPR and First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

• Ability to conduct basic research by collecting and organizing data.
• Must pass Driver Insurance Carrier’s requirements.
• Must obtain certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the cancer screening education program to women with IDD.
• Provide assistance regarding cancer screenings for Native American women.
• Document all case management encounters in client’s electronic health record.

Skills

Knowledge of the political, cultural, and socio-economic environment of the urban Native American communities

Working knowledge of community resources

Ability to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and external partners

Education

Associate’s Degree in Health Education or closely related field
