The role focuses on day-to-day employment matters across California, with emphasis on Northern California, and requires in-person appearances when needed.

This full-time, non-partner-track position offers remote flexibility but requires residency in Northern California and ongoing in-person

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Seven or more years of employment law and litigation experience.
• Active bar membership in good standing.
• California admission is required.
• Experience working independently in a remote environment (preferred).
• Experience with Professional Employer Organizations (preferred).
• Experience managing high-volume matters for a large client (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Handling administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation matters venued in state and federal court and in arbitration proceedings, including EPLI-covered claims.
• Developing case strategy.
• Drafting and reviewing pleadings and motions.
• Conducting and defending depositions.
• Representing clients in hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials/arbitrations.
• Supervising and mentoring attorneys and legal staff.
• Coordinating closely with partners, associates, paralegals, and shared support teams.

Nationwide - Virtual Office PEO Litigation Attorney (Remote)

Fisher Phillips, one of the nation’s oldest and largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has an opportunity for an experienced Labor & Employment litigation attorney to join our team as Special Counsel in our Virtual Office, supporting a dedicated PEO client. Through your representation of this PEO, you will represent it along with its own customers throughout California but largely focused in Northern California.

This non-partner-track role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys owning the day-to-day management of employment matters while delivering consistent, high-quality service to a sophisticated client, its customers, and working with the PEO’s insurance carrier. This position requires in-person participation in court proceedings, depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation-related events. Candidates must be comfortable with in-person advocacy and client representation when circumstances require. Working closely with partners and internal teams, you will manage a high-volume docket from inception through resolution with no business development expectations, allowing you to focus exclusively on practicing law in a collaborative, service-driven environment. This is a dedicated, full-time role and requires consistent availability and long-term engagement.

The annual salary range for this position is $190,000 - $205,000, with actual base pay determined by factors such as the selected billable hours target.
