Job description

Overview

NATIONWIDE SEARCH: CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — A vibrant and busy Charleston family of five is seeking a highly capable, proactive, and experienced FULL-TIME, LIVE-OUT LEAD NANNY/FAMILY MANAGER to take the reins in managing the children’s daily lives and household logistics. This role is not just about childcare—it is about owning the mental load related to the children’s schedules, planning, communication, and coordination. This is a unique opportunity for a confident professional who thrives in a structured, fast-paced, and loving family environment.

The family has three children—ages 9, 7, and 4—and needs someone who is as sharp as they are nurturing. The schedule for this role is Sunday through Thursday from 12 PM to 8 PM, with occasional flexibility for overnights or additional hours when the parents travel or during particularly busy periods (overtime rates apply). The ideal start date is mid-August.

This family is seeking someone who is calm under pressure, exceptionally organized, and ready to take full initiative in managing the children’s lives. That includes managing school and activity schedules, packing for outings and trips, coordinating playdates and enrichment activities, tracking and communicating with schools and caregivers, and keeping tabs on what the family needs 24/7. The Lead Nanny/Family Manager will work closely with a stay-at-home mom and should be comfortable tag-teaming and stepping into a leadership role when needed. The children are all enrolled in school programs between 8 AM and 2:30 PM, and they participate in a range of extracurricular activities.

This is a role for someone who can anticipate needs before they arise, streamline systems, and bring clarity and calm to a bustling household. Responsibilities include driving the children to and from school and activities, managing all aspects of the children’s schedules, maintaining tidy, organized child-related areas, overseeing children’s laundry, preparing healthy meals for the children, and being a consistent and loving presence. The candidate must be travel-ready, as the family travels both domestically and internationally and often brings caregivers along.

The home is located in a walkable part of Charleston, with easy access to parks and libraries. The family has three friendly dogs and one cat, so comfort with animals is essential. Light pet care (letting them out or feeding during overnights) may be requested. The family has a separate Household Manager for non-child related responsibilities and a nanny during the week.

This is a long-term role for a true professional who takes pride in being a critical part of a well-run household. The family offers a generous compensation package including $40+/hour gross (via payroll, based on experience), paid relocation, PTO, paid holidays, a healthcare stipend, and travel pay. Candidates must be fully vaccinated and willing to sign an NDA.

This is more than a nanny job—it’s an executive-level role for someone who understands and excels at managing the rhythm and details of family life with intelligence, heart, and precision.
