Job description

National Special Education Self Contained Coach

Mission:

The mission of the National Special Education Self Contained Coach is to execute the vision and design for the academic program and curriculum approach to the RISE and 18+ Curriculum. The coach will support regional leaders in achieving growth in special programs students' achievement results from grades K through 18+. Working within a high-performing, rapidly expanding, and geographically dispersed charter network, the coach collaborates with Regional Directors of Special Programs to identify, support, and resolve issues related to self-contained program implementation. The coach also provides coaching, designs professional development, and works to increase the fidelity of program implementation to improve student achievement.

Location:

This is a full-time hybrid (remote/on-site) position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates residing in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or those willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations:

More than twenty to thirty percent during peak times, with at least 50% within the region of residence.

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities:

  • Oversee RISE and 18+ program implementation across Texas with fidelity.
  • Collaborate with SIS, regional coaches, and campus leaders to ensure accurate student coding for state reporting.
  • Design and facilitate teacher professional development to improve instructional practices.
  • Communicate effectively with various audiences regarding progress, priorities, and scopes of work within RISE and 18+.
  • Support and coach regional special programs leaders using weekly data to enhance capacity and close achievement gaps.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of curricular support resources through field data collection.
  • Work closely with the Special Programs Compliance team on transition and graduation plans.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of State Assessments and special education curriculum.
  • Experience teaching students with low-incidence disabilities.
  • Instructional coaching and adult professional development experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in strategy, analysis, project management, and influencing leaders.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with students in Special Education.

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s degree (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in Special Education (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Some walking, sitting for extended periods, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs.).
