Job summary

IDA’s Operational Evaluation Division in Alexandria, VA seeks a scientist/engineer to plan, design, observe, and analyze operational testing of military systems. You will conduct independent analyses, advocate for rigorous testing, and present findings to senior government leaders.

Required are a PhD or MS with significant experience, strong communication skills, and ability to travel ~25% while maintaining a TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• PhD in a STEM field or MS with 6+ years of relevant research, system design/engineering, system operations, or policy
• Strong written and oral communication skills for non-technical audiences
• Willingness to travel ~25% of time
• Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance
• Background check successful completion required

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, observe, and analyze operational testing of military systems
• Conduct independent analyses of test results to assess effectiveness, suitability, and survivability
• Work independently or in small teams to advocate for adequate testing
• Participate in working groups, attend test events, analyze results
• Present findings to senior officials via oral and written reports
