You will lead disease-state education, competitive selling content, and certification programs, shaping field capability and adoption of the selling model. Travel ~50% may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Training Manager is responsible for the design, execution, and continuous optimization of all sales training initiatives across the biologic and biosimilars portfolio. This role owns sales training related to sales strategy, execution and selling capability development for both new hires and tenured field representatives.

As part of the Sales Force Effectiveness team, the role partners cross functionally with Marketing, Medical Affairs (Field & Home Office), Compliance, Legal, Sales Leadership, and Market Access to ensure training is scientifically accurate, compliant, strategically aligned, and impactful. Training should utilize adult concepts for learning.

The role operates as a field engaged training leader, occasionally working alongside sales teams to assess real world performance, identify capability gaps, and translate strategy into measurable behavior change using the organization’s approved selling model.

This role leads sales training across the biologics and specialty portfolio as its primary strategic priority. The incumbent will strengthen field capabilities in disease-state selling, product differentiation, patient identification, access navigation, and objection handling, while supporting the evolving training needs of other current and future products.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical & Scientific Training Leadership

  • Own and deliver end-to-end clinical sales training across the biologic and biosimilars portfolio. Assess current new hire training materials and work cross-functionally to update content as needed.
  • Translate complex scientific data (mechanism of action, clinical trials, immunogenicity, switching data, safety) into field ready, compliant sales training content.
  • Partner closely with Medical Affairs to ensure all clinical sales training reflects current data, regulatory standards, and scientific alignment.

Disease State Education

  • Co-lead disease state sales training with Medical across therapeutic areas (e.g., rheumatology, gastroenterology, dermatology, allergy, etc.).
  • Ensure field teams demonstrate deep understanding of disease pathology, treatment paradigms, guidelines, and unmet needs.

Competitive Selling & Market Dynamics

  • Deploy competitive sales training across all therapeutic teams so teams can accurately articulate product information and uncover unmet needs.
  • Enable the field to confidently articulate clinical differentiation, value positioning, access dynamics, and total cost of care narratives.
  • Ensure competitive selling content is accurate, compliant, and aligned with approved claims and legal guardrails.
  • Develop appropriate sales training for objection handling specific to biologics and biosimilars, including: Switching and interchangeability concerns, Clinical skepticism, Reimbursement and site of care economics, Perceived biosimilar risk.
  • Other FAQ’s as needed.
  • Training should focus on how to handle objections with confidence, credibility, and scientific rigor to change prescribing behavior and drive adoption using the organization’s selling model.

Certifications & Recertification Programs

  • Own development and execution of certification and recertification processes for:

Clinical knowledge, Compliant use of CVA, Competitive readiness, Compliance critical content

  • Ensure all field personnel meet required competency standards prior to independent promotion.
  • Partner with Compliance and Legal to maintain audit ready documentation of all certifications.

New Hire Onboarding & Continuous Field Development

  • Lead new hire training programs, working cross-functionally, to achieve successful onboarding and timely certification.
  • Deliver ongoing training for tenured representatives and first line leaders.
  • Adapt training strategy based on life cycle changes, portfolio launches, and market shifts
  • Support Field Coaching, Needs Assessment for Sales and Sales Leadership
  • Spend time in the field observing sales calls, customer interactions, and execution quality.
  • Identify skill gaps, behavioral patterns, and training opportunities through structured assessments.
  • Develop training initiatives and process based on field findings.
  • Participate, as warranted, in Champion Calls such as marketing, market access to understand needs of the field and apply what is learned to develop needed training and pull-through.
  • Serve as a guardian and expert of the organization’s selling model.
  • Ensure all training programs reinforce consistent, customer centric selling behaviors.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to embed the selling model into coaching, performance reviews, and leadership expectations.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with: Marketing on launch readiness, messaging alignment, and ongoing training needs
  • Medical Affairs on scientific content, its accuracy and field medical coordination
  • Compliance & Legal regarding training approvals and risk mitigation
  • Sales Leadership on capability priorities and performance outcomes
  • Market Access regarding market access specific topics (eg. Buy and Bill, DRG
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Sales training, commercial learning, or SFE within biologics / specialty pharmaceuticals
  • Biologics/Immunology Sales Experience Preferred
  • Deep understanding of Biologics and biosimilars, Buy and bill economics, Site of care dynamics, Medicare Part B / commercial payer environments
  • Proven experience working cross functionally with Medical, Marketing, Compliance, and Legal.
  • Knowledgeable of adult learning concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills as well as strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Some travel will be required (50%)
Preferred
  • Prior sales or field sales training experience in specialty or immunology/IBD.
  • Experience launching or supporting biosimilars or complex therapeutic portfolios.
EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD, MPH) preferred
