CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
NATIONAL ORGANIZER, WSCF-US
May 5, 2025
The World Student Christian Federation - US seeks to hire a National Organizer to lead a Student Christian Movement in the United States that connects US Christian students with one another and with Student Christian Movements globally through the networks of the World Student Christian Federation. Our mission is to build a radically inclusive, ecumenical, globally engaged, and social-justice oriented US community of students, campus ministers/chaplains, and alumni rooted in the prophetic Biblical and theological tradition that affirms that all are beloved children of God, called to a life of faith and action, toward a vision of a New Heaven and a New Earth.
The World Student Christian Federation - US ( WSCF-US ) is the American expression of the World Student Christian Federation ( WSCF ), a global organization founded in 1895 that now has Student Christian Movements in countries around the world. The World Council of Churches is but one organization that has evolved out of the WSCF’s prophetic work.
Over the past five years the WSCF-US has begun a newly invigorated chapter in its own history, creating the position of National Organizer, establishing a Student Leadership Team, a Chaplain Leadership Team, hosting three national conferences, creating regional gatherings, organizing delegations to Cuba and Palestine, and initiating a variety of web-based Bible studies, panels, and prayer gatherings.
We joyfully describe ourselves as globally engaged, radically inclusive, and prophetically identified as Christian disciples. We are excited and empowered by the home we have built for progressive Christian students across the United States, especially at a time of severe challenges to the rights and very humanity of so many vulnerable populations.
The National Organizer will build upon the successes of the last five years and lead the organization into the future. We are eager to welcome a new colleague with the following qualities and experiences:
– a deep commitment to their Christian faith and a capacity to connect it to our current political and social context
– experience in social-justice movement-building and organizing, particularly in faith-based spaces
– a bachelor’s degree; a seminary degree is a plus
– excellent organizational skills, and an ability to work independently
– excellent communication skills with multiple constituencies (students, donors, alumni, etc.)
– knowledge of historic denominational and ecumenical church structures and the current US religious context
– familiarity with communications, social media, and fundraising platforms
– imagination, enthusiasm, wisdom, compassion
The WSCF-US National Organizer will lead our work to:
1. Recruit, support, and empower a national Student Leadership Team
2. Convene students for local, regional, and national conferences and programs
3. Organize online education, fellowship, and prayer gatherings
4. Expand a national network of progressive campus ministers and chaplains
5. Create resources for students and campus ministers, including web-based programming and resources
6. Engage international SCM partners and the global WSCF
7. Create and promote international leadership development opportunities within the WSCF network and beyond
8. Lead communication and social media strategy
9. Cultivate alumni network, including recent alumni
11. Fundraise with multiple constituencies: alumni, churches, foundations
12. Build partnerships with staff of other organizations
Location: Flexible
Salary: commensurate with experience plus health care stipend/reimbursement
The National Organizer’s work will be guided by the board of Trustees of the World Student Christian Federation, Inc. through weekly and monthly advisory meetings.
To be considered for the National Organizer position please send a cover letter, CV, and the contact information for three references to wscftrustees@gmail.com by June 15. The position starts on August 1, 2025.
