Job summary

Democratic Socialists of America seeks a full-time labor program coach to empower chapters nationwide. Responsibilities include coaching chapters, developing trainings, and expanding labor organizing campaigns that align with member-decided priorities.

The role emphasizes recruiting and training volunteers, building strong relationships with locals and affiliates, and coordinating across regions to strengthen the national labor program. This position reports to the National Campaigns Director.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in developing grassroots leadership and winning concrete campaigns.
• Minimum two years of experience organizing to win collective bargaining agreements, contracts, legislation, or similar reforms.
• Proven track record of recruiting, training, and managing volunteers at scale.
• Experience managing relationships with locals, affiliates, or subsidiaries regionally or nationally.

Responsibilities

• Directly coach and train chapters (in person or remotely) on implementing national labor strategy through campaigns, resources, recruitment, and establishing labor branches.
• Help create spaces for chapters to learn best practices and collaborate on strategic labor work.
• Create resources, identify mentorship opportunities, and support chapter labor development.
• Develop, revise and execute trainings for DSA membership in various forms.
• Track and assess chapter labor work and monitor national labor activity to inform the program scope.
• Support the National Labor Commission leadership with planning and goal setting.
• Assist the National Labor Commission with access to resources and coordination with national staff.
• Provide insights about needs and capacities of DSA chapters and potential recruits for leadership.
• Help staff understand NLC programs and campaigns to move chapters to action.
