Description
The SCT/CCT Paramedic will provide care and treatment for chronically or acutely ill and/or injured patients. They will work with a team to adhere to care standards established by protocols for the IFT Division and collaborate closely with EMTs and Paramedics to deliver effective care.
Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based patient care in collaboration with patients and families, coordinating with the healthcare team.
- Drive the ambulance when needed to support staffing or during trips without patients onboard.
- Administer pharmacologic agents and intravenous fluids during inter-hospital transports.
- Operate and maintain proficiency with equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, hi-flow devices, and IV pumps.
- Assist in maintaining ambulance readiness, cleanliness, and supply levels.
- Assess patients' physical, emotional, bio-physical, and spiritual needs, providing direct care and evaluating outcomes.
- Incorporate patient-centered care principles.
- Collaborate with online medical control physicians for complex patient management during transport.
- Communicate clinical information clearly and accurately verbally and in writing.
- Document pertinent patient information accurately in medical records, ensuring complete documentation of care.
- Follow governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Ensure safe ambulance operations in coordination with the Emergency Vehicle Operator.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Provide basic patient comfort measures during procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Completion of an accredited paramedic program.
- Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course prior to the end of orientation.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Paramedic in a high-acuity, high-volume EMS system; critical care experience preferred.
- Georgia Paramedic license or National Registry Paramedic with GA Paramedic and Post Licensure Certification (PLS).
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
- Critical Care Paramedic certification (CCP, FP-C) preferred or to be obtained within 18 months.
- Unrestricted Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 125 pounds, or 250 pounds with assistance.
- High clinical competence and effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
