Job summary

Orca Bio seeks a National Senior Director of Field Medical Affairs to lead the MSL organization and align field activities with corporate medical strategies. This field-based leadership role reports to the VP of Medical Affairs and requires strong cross-functional collaboration to drive clinical development goals.

Responsibilities include building and guiding the MSL team, recruiting and mentoring staff, and ensuring high scientific and operational standards while engaging key thought leaders

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience within Medical Affairs, experience working as an MSL and at least 3 years of experience managing field-based MSL teams.
• Strong understanding of US pharma rules and regulations, particularly as they apply to MSL activities; ability to develop, coach & oversee a highly compliant MSL function.
• Experience in team management, developing, reporting, & tracking MSL performance.
• Experience with managing departmental projects & resources.
• Experience with developing relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs)/health care professionals (HCPs).
• Cell and/or gene therapy experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Establish, grow, and lead the national field-based MSL team with SOPs and best practices.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and manage MSL performance to high standards.
• Translate medical strategy into actionable goals and measurable field initiatives.
• Identify and engage key thought leaders aligned with medical strategy.
• Oversee field-based support of clinical trials, including site education and investigator engagement.
• Represent the organization at scientific conferences and advisory boards.
• Ensure compliant interactions with KOLs/HCPs and data collection for internal strategies.
• Collaborate across products, disease states, and indications.
