Job summary

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a contractor to serve as an audio/video producer with deep experience in narrative storytelling. You will join a small, fast-moving multimedia team to help produce our flagship podcast, Essential Minnesota, in both audio and video formats.

Qualifications

Journalism experience producing narrative news podcasts across multiple platforms.
Strong technical baseline in audio editing and mixing; familiarity with video workflows.
Sharp ear for narrative and ability to shape stories in pre- and post-production.
Experience collaborating in a small production team with distinct roles.

Responsibilities

Research and develop story ideas with reporters and editors for weekly narratives.
Shape raw reporting into tight, engaging audio storytelling.
Identify additional scene tape and other recordings.
Create and mix rough cuts of interviews with clear narrative.
Collaborate with video producer and technical editor to align audio and video.
Partner with senior audio producer and host on show structure and arc.
Maintain fast weekly production cadence without sacrificing quality.
Bring enthusiasm and creativity to a newsroom focused on innovation.
