Job summary

Peabody Energy’s North Antelope Rochelle Mine in Wright, Wyoming seeks an Experienced Production Technician to operate open cut equipment (drills, loaders, blades) for coal production, while upholding safety and environmental standards in a large, safe mining community.

You will inspect and service equipment, plan digging activities, train junior staff, and handle rotating shifts with potential weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience on drills, loaders or blades at a mine site is preferred.
• Problem‑solving and troubleshooting capabilities in the pit area.
• Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts and overhead shop cranes.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as required by business needs.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime when required.
• High School Degree or GED equivalent (required).

Job description

Experienced Production Technician Driller/Loader/Blade Operator – Open Cut Mining team at North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM), Wright, Wyoming. The mine is the world’s largest surface coal mine, producing high quality thermal coal shipped by rail. The mine has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves.

NARM is located in a safe, tight‑knit community with outstanding schools and recreational opportunities. Peabody’s NARM Mine has a safety‑first culture and aims for zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents.

This role is responsible for operating open cut mine equipment to facilitate the production of coal.

Physical Requirements – Surface

• Stand for up to 4 hours per shift.
• Be seated for up to 4 hours while operating equipment.
• Work from elevated positions, walk or climb stairs and ladders, and work on and off equipment.
• Wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other PPE as required by Company and MSHA.
• Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle) and have rapid reflex movements with good hand‑to‑eye coordination.
• Lift or raise 10–50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently.
• Work in extreme conditions including changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise and light levels, and in confined work areas.
• Work various shifts (days, evenings, nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays).
