Job summary

The University of Utah Nanofab seeks an experienced, hands-on engineer to teach researchers instrument operation in a world-class micro- and nanofabrication facility, covering EBL, laser lithography, RIE/DRIE, and deposition. The engineer will train researchers, test and monitor equipment, and work with senior staff to maintain a safe, productive environment.

This role enables leading-edge research in microelectronics, sensors, materials, micro-optics, and nanotechnology, with a strong emphasis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering with 2+ years related experience; Master’s degree (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience with microfabrication tools and cleanroom environments.
  • Ability to train researchers and work with senior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide researcher tool training sessions for lithography, deposition, and dry etch sets.
  • Maintain tool integrity and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Test and monitor equipment and systems.
  • Assist in tool-related design guidance for researchers.
  • Train students in engineering techniques.
  • Support a safe and effective work environment.
  • Work independently on tasks of limited complexity.
