MYCincinnati (Music for Youth in Cincinnati) is a free youth orchestra program in Price Hill. Founded in 2011 on the idea that personal transformation can be achieved by striving for musical excellence, MYCincinnati gives students the opportunity to learn an orchestral instrument and play in an ensemble. MYCincinnati is inspired by El Sistema, the Venezuelan national youth orchestra network that uses music as a vehicle for social change. MYCincinnati is a program of Price Hill Will, the community development corporation for the three Price Hill neighborhoods. Price Hill Will’s mission is to improve the quality of life for all residents of Price Hill using an equitable, creative, and asset-based approach to physical, civic, social, and economic development.
Part-time Teaching Artist paid at $50/hour. Instructional hours are Monday through Friday, 3:15–6:15 p.m. Additional non-instructional hours are available, including administrative work, staff meetings, concerts, and other program responsibilities, which are paid at $25/hour. We are active from September through May (ca. 31 weeks) plus 4 weeks for summer camp in June. The ideal candidate will be a cello specialist who is comfortable teaching all string instruments in a group setting.
The Teaching Artist will model excellence, a love for music, and compassion while exemplifying MYCincinnati’s mission in uplifting the student and the community. This person will be able to critically reflect on teaching practices through the lens of equity and contribute to a team of passionate and diverse teaching artists.
