POSITION: Instrumental Music Instructor – Cello (Part Time)
DEPARTMENT: Music & Dance School
REPORTS TO: Strings Department Chair
SALARY: Individual - $49.00 Hourly, Group - $51.00 Hourly, Miscellaneous - $32.00 Hourly

POSITION OVERVIEW
Third Street Music School seeks a cello instructor to teach private lessons and repertoire classes throughout the 32-week academic school year. This is a part‐time, in‐person Saturday position. Instruction takes place weekly throughout the academic year with the option of continuing summer instruction as needs arise.
The ideal candidate is a dedicated educator who thrives working with both individuals and groups in a Suzuki-based community music school setting. Our faculty employ their skills, training, experience, and enthusiasm to foster a joyful and collegial environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide inspirational teaching, constructive feedback, and annual progress reports for private and small group students
  • Encourage students to connect to our community by taking advantage of Third Street’s many offerings
  • Attend performances and recitals
  • Participate in strings department meetings
  • Give prompt attention to the small administrative tasks related to the position
  • Collaborate with Third Street registrar in scheduling and communication of lessons and classes
  • Engage in the overall work and mission of Third Street and c ontribute to a welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree or certification in music or music education or equivalent experience preferred
  • 2 years minimum of teaching cello lessons in a community music school, or public-school setting
  • Suzuki studio teaching experience and training preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills for working with students, parents and colleagues
  • Classroom management skills
