Job description

Position Summary

Our qualified candidate will be responsible for quality assurance and quality improvement testing of key performance attributes for smartphones, tablets, and wearables for Samsung’s and competitors’ products.

The candidate will also be involved in testing Samsung IoT products.

The testing follows Samsung Quality Assurance (QA) lab protocols, based on performance measurements, QA lab testing methodologies, and subjective assessments of usability, design elements, and other key performance attributes. The candidate will provide detailed testing reports to US and Korean management, highlighting potential risk points and recommendations for improvement.

Assessment and knowledge of the technical media landscape are expected to ensure Samsung products align with consumer expectations.

This role is critical for understanding and predicting US tech magazine evaluations for mobile devices. It involves analyzing magazine testing methodologies, scoring matrices, and reviews to estimate scores for Samsung and other brands, through collaboration with magazines, detailed analysis using Excel, and presenting new device features.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities/Duties:

  1. Perform typical performance and quality assurance tests for smartphones, smartwatches, laptops, and tablets.
  2. Analyze raw test data and published reviews from tech magazines to determine test protocols and scoring methods.
  3. Develop and maintain detailed Excel models for score estimation and analysis.
  4. Prepare reports with findings and recommendations for improvement.
  5. Oversee lab infrastructure, maintain existing systems, and research solutions for improvements.
  6. Prepare and deliver presentations to tech magazines, showcasing new mobile device features and conducting hands-on demonstrations.
  7. Monitor and analyze competitor mobile device performance, magazine scores, and reviews.
  8. Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the mobile device industry.
  9. Contribute to internal reports and analyses on magazine scores and competitor benchmarking.
  10. Maintain and update technical expertise through attending media events, seminars, and external training.
  11. Collaborate with HQ counterparts to improve products based on detailed reporting.
  12. Monitor customer service activities in Samsung IoT space.
Skills and Qualifications

Background & Competencies Required:

  1. 4+ years of experience.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Science, or similar discipline.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including data analysis and modeling.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Fluency in English and Korean preferred.
  7. Experience in market research or competitive analysis.
  8. Familiarity with testing methodologies for smartphones, smartwatches, laptops, and tablets.
  9. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
  10. Experience with Consumer Reports is a plus.
