Requirements
  • NYS Certification in Special Education
  • Must meet NYSED Fingerprinting requirements

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

  • Knowledge of school organization, goals, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and instructional materials in the field of specialization
  • Excellent understanding of the teaching and learning process
  • Ability to incorporate technology into curriculum
  • Skill in tracking student progress and communicating with parents
  • Knowledge of assessment tools (e.g., running records)
  • Experience in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs
