Responsibilities
  • Uses creativity to plan, promote, and implement community recreation programs utilizing facilities within the entire MWR Department, in accordance with CNIC standards.
  • Coordinates leisure skills development activities and classes.
  • Organizes community events such as comedy shows, holiday celebrations, celebrity appearances, concerts, 4th of July Festival, and Winterfest.
  • Serves as liaison for MWR activities with Training Support Center (TSC), Fleet & Family Readiness Departments (N9), and other tenant commands.
  • Supports unit allocation events with equipment, programming ideas, and coordination.
  • Develops, manages, and maintains community recreation programs, including planning, execution, and administration.
  • Assists in writing standard operating procedures and ensures compliance with policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Exercises judgment in adapting guidelines for specific situations.
  • Negotiates partnerships with on-base and off-base organizations to support MWR programs.
  • Creates professional proposals, executes agreements, and follows up.
  • Provides information and referrals on recreational opportunities for individuals and families.
  • Plans, promotes, and executes programs and events, utilizing all available resources.
  • Markets MWR facilities and events through outreach, staff and student indoctrination, and advertising.
  • Performs administrative duties including after-action reports, data collection, and database management.
  • Monitors programs to meet or exceed Navy standards.
  • Evaluates ongoing programs and recommends improvements.
  • Analyzes projects considering budget, staffing, trends, and mission.
  • Provides onsite project oversight and communicates issues to leadership.
  • Uses metrics and financial data to recommend modifications.
  • Ensures facilities meet safety, security, and sanitation standards and takes corrective actions.
  • Assists in planning and designing construction projects.
  • Leads check-in/check-out of materials and manages fees via POS system.
  • Inspects equipment and recommends replacements.
  • Leads outdoor skills workshops and field trips in activities like camping, sailing, skiing, etc.
  • Supervises staff on a temporary basis and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must meet suitability requirements and pass background checks.
  • May require irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform outdoor activities.
Qualifications
  • Experience in customer service and activity-based programming.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of organizing, planning, and conducting recreational activities.
  • Ability to create and sustain partnerships and maintain accurate databases.
Additional Information

Salary depends on experience and education. Employment is contingent on background checks, drug testing, and other requirements. Must comply with Real ID Act for base access. Position is entry level, full-time, in management and recreation functions.
