Job summary

Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) is seeking staff in Coronado, CA to perform semi-skilled labor and cleaning tasks in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. The role includes floor care, restroom sanitation, and use of power cleaning equipment in a federal facility located at NALF San Clemente Island, Coronado.

Candidates must pass federal suitability/background checks, comply with drug-free workplace policy, and be able to operate industrial cleaning machines

Qualifications

• Ability to read signs and follow simple oral/written instructions.
• Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects.
• Ability to use powered cleaning equipment and perform minor maintenance.
• Ability to learn Material Safety Data Sheets.

Responsibilities

• Scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using heavy powered scrubbers and buffers.
• Vacuum rugs with industrial vacuums and maintain machinery.
• Adjust, clean, oil, and change brushes/attachments on cleaning equipment.
• Clean blinds, replace light bulbs, and wash ceilings and partitions using ladders/scaffolds.
• Move heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment for cleaning operations.
• Maintain clean restrooms and sanitary conditions; clean showers, sauna, and steam room.

Job description

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department in the Navy Region Southwest Naval Base Coronado. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled labor and cleaning tasks.

Located at Naval Landing Field (NALF) San Clemente Island, Coronado, CA.

Duties

• Performs one or more of the following duties: scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubbers and buffers.
• Vacuum cleans rugs, using heavy (industrial type) vacuum cleaner.
• Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines, and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them.
• Washes and replaces venetian blinds, changes light bulbs and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions, using ladders and scaffolds.
• Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment.
• Keeps restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
• Cleans, disinfects and woodwork.
• Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
• Maintains stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more are needed.
• Cleans showers, sauna, and steam room.
• Performs other related duties as required.
