Job summary

The City of Winston-Salem seeks an experienced industrial electrician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical equipment across facilities. You will support plant operations, automation and motor control systems, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in commercial/industrial electrical work; North Carolina Electrical Contractor License is preferred. On-call rotation and OSHA training are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and two years of experience as a commercial/industrial electrician.
• North Carolina Electrical Contractor License preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues causing electrical problems; coordinate with mechanics to repair and improve systems.
• Maintain and service medium voltage systems and plant automation issues.
• Repair motor control systems and program control logic where needed.
• Obtain quotes and procure materials; manage inventory to keep facilities operational.
• Work with outside contractors on thermal imaging, battery inspections, and contract work.
• Exercise responsibility for emergency calls during nights, weekends and holidays.
