Position Summary:

REMOTE Work OPPORTUNITY!

The Finance department at NRECA manages accounting, financial planning/budgeting, and procurement operations supporting NRECA and its affiliated organizations. We are seeking a team member to lead accounting and financial reporting for Homestead Funds, overseeing compliance with SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP standards. This role involves collaboration across departments and providing financial insights and oversight for the funds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Manage production of shareholder reports, financial statements, and investment schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Review and approve SEC filings prepared by service providers.
  3. Oversee service providers handling accounting, tax compliance, and SEC filings.
  4. Present quarterly financial highlights and other reports to the Funds' Board of Directors.
  5. Coordinate annual external audits and ensure compliance across departments and service providers.
  6. Manage fund income/capital gain distributions, tax return preparations, and filings.
  7. Assist in preparing the annual Prospectus/N-1A filings for shareholders and SEC submission.
  8. Support data updates on the data warehouse and website.
  9. Participate in the Advisers' Valuation Committee, overseeing valuation matters and disclosures.
  10. Stay updated on SEC, GAAP, and IRS regulations affecting mutual fund accounting.
  11. Lead projects related to SEC regulation changes, process improvements, and fund modifications, providing advisory support to the Homestead team and directly supporting the Treasurer/Principal Financial Officer.
  12. Travel to Arlington, VA, four times annually for Board meetings.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/financial reporting experience in mutual funds.
  • Experience with mutual fund reporting, SEC regulations, and US GAAP.
  • Strong technical skills in mutual fund accounting and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred:
  • Corporate accounting experience.
  • CPA license.
