Togetherhood is building a vibrant marketplace connecting educators with schools and communities in Boston. This role involves teaching Musical Theater to K-12 students, with term lengths from 6 to 18 weeks, and an emphasis on hands-on learning and student engagement.

The instructor will develop curriculum, lead weekly classes on-site, and foster a welcoming, creative environment for learners of all levels. Compensation is per class as contracted, with a materials budget provided.

What You’ll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach Musical Theater to K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across Boston. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.


As an after school instructor, you’ll have the following responsibilities:



  • Develop age-appropriate Musical Theater curriculum for after-school students

  • Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise

  • Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged

  • Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels

  • Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment

  • Track student growth and offer positive, helpful feedback

  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to teach

  • Create a memorable experience for the children in your class



Who You Are


  • A fun, enthusiastic, adaptable instructor, with experience teaching school age children, and who:

  • Has subject matter expertise in Musical Theater

  • Has a passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids

  • Has excitement, joy, and passion for both teaching kids and personal development/learning

  • Knows how to create a fun, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach

  • Is cooperative, supportive, flexible

  • Is dependable, proactive, and thrives when given autonomy … and also appreciates support and clear expectations



What To Expect


  • If your resume is a fit, we’ll reach out to set up a screening call on Google Meet

  • Candidates advancing from screenings will have a second video interview, in which we will ask you to share a sample lesson plan

  • The final step of the process is onboarding into our platform, ready to accept classes!

Teachers in the Togetherhood network are paid per class, either flat rate or per-student (determined by the partner school). This is contracted, supplemental 1099 work. There is a separate materials budget for teachers to use for classes requiring one.
