Position Details: 0.4 Part-time

Under the direction of the school principal, plan and deliver appropriate learning experiences for students. Create an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure their success. Supervise students in various school settings, monitor and evaluate their outcomes, and communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community. Develop, select, and adapt instructional plans and materials to meet diverse student needs. Maintain records and follow established procedures. Ensure proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Planning a curriculum that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  2. Instructing assigned classes at scheduled times and locations.
  3. Creating a classroom environment that encourages student involvement and achievement.
  4. Preparing for classes and demonstrating evidence of planning.
  5. Guiding learning towards curriculum goals with clear objectives.
  6. Establishing learning objectives based on student needs and curriculum standards.
  7. Utilizing effective instructional methods and assessment techniques.
  8. Taking safety precautions to protect students and resources.
  9. Maintaining accurate records as required by law and policy.
  10. Implementing policies on student conduct and maintaining classroom order.
  11. Being available outside instructional hours for student and parent engagement.
  12. Building respectful relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
  13. Supervising teacher assistants and volunteers.
  14. Evaluating personal effectiveness and striving for professional growth.
  15. Participating in school management and committees.
  16. Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum, instructional techniques, and policies.
  • Understanding of the teaching and learning process, multicultural education, and technology integration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in education or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for or possession of a Virginia teaching license.

Physical and other requirements: Sensory skills for communication, physical ability to perform tasks, and possession of a valid driver’s license. Reliable attendance is essential.
