Job summary

Hospital for Behavioral Medicine in Worcester, MA is seeking a Music Therapist for a per diem role. You will demonstrate observation, document patient responses, and contribute to treatment planning while delivering activity therapy across the patient load.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or higher in Music Therapy with MT-BC licensure, CPR certification, CPI training, and at least one year of relevant psychiatric care experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Therapy.
• MT-BC licensure/certification required or state/national equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year related psychiatric care experience preferred.
• CPR certification and CPI training completed within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Observe and document changes in patients' condition and progress toward goals.
• Communicate patient status changes to Charge Nurse or Program Director.
• Provide psychosocial/leisure assessment and skill development activities.
• Document interventions per patient care plan and criteria.
• Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned patient load.
• Provide feedback to the treatment team on patient response and goals.
• Ensure timely, accurate documentation of services rendered.

Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?

• Demonstrate responsibility for observation and application of sound judgment in patients' physical and mental condition/needs.
• Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse or Program Director.
• Provides assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
• Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.
• Effectively plans and implements activity therapy for assigned patient case load within the facility, as well as outside the hospital as required.
• Provide pertinent feedback to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding patient response to therapy, treatment interventions, and therapeutic objectives, as appropriate and necessary.
• Document services rendered in accordance with established criteria.

Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Music therapy.
• Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: Music Therapy, MT-BC.
• Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI Training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 30 days of employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation:
