Job description

Summary

The C-IHS Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of care delivered to patients and families through direct patient care activities that support the hospice agency's goal of providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, approved therapeutic modalities to patients, such as licensed massage therapy, music therapy, certified music practitioner therapy, acupuncture therapy, etc., within scope of practice and agency policies, including licensure, registration, and certification.
• Have knowledge of hospice and end-of-life care.
• Interact with patients and families compassionately.
• Assist the hospice program and/or patient/family in accordance with designated activities.
• Contribute to the plan of care and participate in interdisciplinary group meetings as needed.
• Communicate availability and schedule changes to supervisor.
• Accurately document services provided, as trained and instructed by the hospice agency.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
• Report any observed changes in patient status to the supervisor and/or agency Executive Director.
• Attend at least four (4) in-services per year.
• Complete all mandatory trainings.
• Submit annual renewal documents on time.
• Maintain professional liability insurance, per company policy.
• Keep professional certification, registration, licensure, and/or continuing education up to date according to modality requirements.
• Be CPR certified.
• Participate in community outreach projects as needed.

Education and Experience

• Provide specific therapeutic interventions based on therapy-specific training and experience, as outlined in hospice policy.
• Experience working with people.
• At least 6 months of experience working with hospice patients/families or similar populations.
• One year of experience in the designated C-IHS modality is preferred.

Skill Requirements

• Be a mature, non-judgmental, caring, people-oriented individual supportive of hospice care.
• Complete C-IHS Training Program.
• Complete LHC Group orientation and skills competency related to the professional role.
• Maintain requirements of the professional role.
