Work Schedule/FLSA Status:

per negotiated agreement / Exempt

Salary Schedule:

2024/25: Step 1 with a Bachelor's Degree: $50,500; with a Master's Degree: $55,550. 2025/26: Step 1 with a Bachelor's Degree: $51,200; with a Master's Degree: $57,820. Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience.

Position Purpose:

Plans for, teaches, and facilitates learning for all students. Creates a positive learning environment. Maintains academic progress, records, and discipline. Works collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to meet students' needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid NE Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s) in Music.
  • Demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.
  • Excellent attendance record and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of Best Instructional Practices.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and professional classroom performance.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in education.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
  • Develop students’ cognitive skills and respect for learning.
  • Foster students’ self-esteem and understand diverse populations.
  • Integrate leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum.
  • Plan and guide learning to meet program objectives.
  • Maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Use diagnostic and progress assessments effectively.
  • Select effective instructional methods and materials.
  • Build cooperative relationships with students and communicate with parents and staff.
  • Engage in professional growth activities.
  • Collaborate to support the school’s and district’s goals.
Additional Duties:

Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal and administrators.

Equipment:

Use of SMART boards, iPads, and basic office equipment, following OPS guidelines.

Travel:

Limited travel may be required.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Respond rapidly in emergencies.
  • Maintain organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work in school environments.
Interrelations:
  • Interact with district personnel and stakeholders.
  • Work under supervision of building administration.
  • Handle diverse situations tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Maintain positive, professional interactions.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
  • Perform duties during scheduled hours unless approved otherwise.
  • Report in appropriate attire reflecting OPS standards.
Terms of Employment:

Full-time, exempt, governed by state laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements if applicable.

Terms Contingent Upon:
  • Valid Nebraska Teaching License.
  • Acceptable background check.
  • Legal work authorization.
  • Completion of required health screenings.
  • Contract execution.
