Berkley Shared Time–Music Teacher (Full Time)

START DATE: 2025-2026 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with Music Education endorsement
  • Demonstrated coursework and/or specific experience necessary for posted assignment
  • Able to plan for and deliver effective instruction, manage student behavior and classroom environment, assess productively, and self-reflect on instructional effectiveness
  • Demonstrate evidence of recent coursework and/or in-service activities directed toward improving professional competence

LOCATION: Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish School, 1151 William Street, Plymouth, MI 48170

SALARY: Shared Time Teacher Salary Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate preferred; teaching experience preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and Preparation:
- Plan, implement, teach, and assess a comprehensive program of study.
- Develop plans and organize daily lessons to address instruction, student application, and practice.
- Plan and develop assessments to evaluate student progress.
- Use materials and resources that motivate students.

Classroom Environment:
- Establish standards of pupil behavior for an orderly environment.
- Organize classroom space and instruction.
- Create a respectful and safe learning environment.
- Provide behavioral directions professionally and calmly.

Instruction:
- Offer opportunities for students to expand awareness through community resources, field trips, and guest speakers.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and professional duties.
- Evaluate student performance.
- Use varied instructional strategies to engage students.
- Use questioning and discussion techniques effectively.
- Engage students actively in learning.

Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory records.
- Participate in committees, events, and professional development.
- Reflect and modify teaching practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Contribute to school improvement.
- Use student data for outcomes improvement.
- Communicate progress to parents and students.
