Position Purpose

In cooperation with parents, the Catholic school teacher is responsible for forming the whole person spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. The teacher models the Church’s values through word and action, teaching according to gospel principles and moral values.

Responsibilities

• Promote teachings consistent with Catholic principles and conduct oneself according to Catholic moral standards.
• Hold a valid diocesan teacher’s contract and Kansas teaching license.
• Collaborate with the principal to foster a faith community among faculty, staff, and students.
• Carry out all teaching assignments and responsibilities as directed.
• Develop a close relationship with parents as primary educators.
• Integrate moral values throughout the curriculum and activities.
• Create a respectful classroom environment that upholds human dignity.
• Implement diocesan curriculum, policies, and guidelines.
• Plan and deliver instructional activities to meet learning outcomes.
• Supervise students properly at all times.
• Maintain professionalism in manner, appearance, and performance.
• Participate in professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
• Fulfill diocesan policies on child abuse prevention (VIRTUS).
• Avoid using the school for personal gain through sales or publications.
• Conscientiously fulfill teaching contract obligations.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Principal or administrators.

Qualifications and Equipment
