Position: Music Teacher (K-8)
Position Purpose

In cooperation with parents, the Catholic school teacher is responsible for forming the whole person spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. The teacher models the Church’s values and beliefs through words and actions, teaching according to gospel principles and moral values, and giving witness to the distinctive character of the Catholic school.

Responsibilities
  1. Promulgates teachings consistent with Catholic principles and conducts self according to Catholic moral standards.
  2. Holds a valid diocesan teacher’s contract and a properly endorsed Kansas teaching license.
  3. Collaborates with the principal to build a faith community among faculty, staff, and students.
  4. Carries out all teaching assignments and responsibilities as assigned.
  5. Works to develop a close relationship with parents, recognizing them as primary educators.
  6. Integrates moral values throughout the curriculum and activities.
  7. Creates a classroom environment that respects the dignity of every child.
  8. Implements diocesan curriculum, policies, guidelines, and programs.
  9. Plans and executes instructional activities to help students achieve required outcomes.
  10. Supervises students properly at all times.
  11. Maintains professionalism in manner, appearance, promptness, and performance.
  12. Participates in professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  13. Fulfills diocesan policies on child abuse prevention (VIRTUS).
  14. Upholds the integrity of the school environment, avoiding personal gain through sales or publications.
  15. Fulfills teaching contract conscientiously.
  16. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal or central office administrators.
Qualifications

Kansas State Certification as an Elementary Teacher.

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.

Travel Requirements

Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed.
