Job Description for Music Teacher at Regnum Christi School

The teacher at a Regnum Christi School has the mission of integrally forming (academically, humanly, spiritually, and apostolically) the students to whom he/she gives classes.

  1. The teacher is to teach one or more of the subjects of the approved Regnum Christi School program of education.
  2. The teacher encourages, assesses, monitors, and records the progress of individual students.
  3. The teacher fosters a love for learning, nurturing students' appreciation for values and culture on both national and universal levels, awakening their intellectual, artistic, and human abilities, and stimulating their desire to learn and research through an engaging and dynamic method of transmitting knowledge.
  4. The teacher creates and maintains an effective learning environment. They must know, assimilate, and practice the school's ideals, principles, and teaching methodology, carrying out their work professionally and with initiative, fostering an environment of confidence and respect.
  5. The teacher should serve as an authentic Christian and human witness through words and actions, being responsible and faithful to commitments inside and outside the school.
Qualifications

The Music School Teacher should meet the following qualifications:

  1. A music education degree or related bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  2. Experience in music education.
  3. Ability to provide accurate vocal models for young singers.
  4. Ability to accompany singers on instruments such as piano or guitar.
  5. Ability to teach music structure, vocal and instrumental performance, and promote creativity through composing and improvising appropriate for elementary levels.
  6. Effective communication skills with students, staff, parents, and community members about and through music.
Responsibilities
  1. Provide grade-appropriate music education to lower and middle school students.
  2. Organize two annual concerts with grade-level appropriate hymns or melodies.
  3. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.
  4. Develop students' intellectual skills and abilities.
  5. Motivate students towards personal improvement.
  6. Assess and provide feedback on student work; communicate issues to parents and supervisors.
  7. Supervise and discipline students inside and outside the classroom, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  8. Maintain records of student progress, including report cards, and recommend awards.
  9. Stay updated with developments in music education and incorporate new resources and methods.
  10. Select and adapt learning resources to meet students' formation needs.
  11. Support students with learning or behavioral difficulties, providing one-on-one assistance as needed.
  12. Prepare students for standardized tests, administer, and supervise these assessments.
  13. Assist in organizing school-wide activities, celebrations, and contests.
  14. Manage student behavior and apply motivational discipline measures, reporting infractions appropriately.
  15. Supervise and support teacher assistants and mentor new teachers.
  16. Fulfill supervision duties and coordinate student transitions.
  17. Participate in extracurricular activities and motivate student participation.
  18. Attend and contribute to meetings with staff and parents.
  19. Engage in ongoing professional development and school training activities.
  20. Collaborate with other professionals such as deans and formation leaders.
Reporting Structure
  • The Music Teacher reports to the Lower / Middle School Principal.
