Job summary

Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH is seeking qualified percussion instructors to teach face-to-face at the Dayton campus as Adjunct Faculty. Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with tested experience in the content area.

  • Proven percussion experience at a variety of student experience levels.
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for a diverse college community.
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Prepare syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

Position Summary

The Sinclair Music Program provides a comprehensive foundation, fulfilling the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in music, with a strong emphasis on public performance. This program equips students with the skills and academic preparation necessary for success in advanced music studies and professional performance opportunities.

Sinclair is currently seeking qualified percussion instructors to teach face-to-face at the Dayton campus. The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

Requirements
