Job summary

School of Rock Alexandria is seeking a Music Instructor to join our Alexandria team. You will create engaging lessons and rehearsals for guitar, bass, drums, keys, and vocals, helping students build confidence and musicianship through performance-based education.

We value teachers with experience guiding students of various ages, strong communication, and a passion for live performance. Starting pay begins at $20/hour, with higher compensation for experienced instructors based on qualifications

Qualifications

• 2+ years of music teaching and/or professional performance experience.
• Experience teaching students of varying ages and abilities.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Knowledge of music theory and musical fundamentals.
• Strong communication, organization, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Positive, patient, adaptable, and enjoys collaborating with others.
• Passion for teaching and helping students grow through live performance.

Responsibilities

• Coach engaging private lessons and dynamic group rehearsals that prepare students for live performances.
• Teach the fundamentals of music—not just songs.
• Create thoughtful lesson plans while maintaining accurate lesson notes and Method App assignments.
• Build strong relationships with students and families through regular communication.
• Support rehearsals, school events, and the overall student experience.
• Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and all safety policies.
