Job summary

School of Rock in Ashburn, VA is seeking a part-time Music Instructor for vocal, drums, guitar, bass and keyboard. You will lead private lessons, ensemble rehearsals and student shows, fostering both musical skills and life lessons.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of teaching or performing music, strong music theory knowledge, and excellent customer relations. This role offers flexible hours, gear discounts, and daily pay options in a supportive, energetic environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Excellent ability to deal with a wide range of customers and people.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.
• Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons.
• Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons and assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school.
