Job summary

Directions for Youth & Families (DFYF) seeks a dedicated Music Instructor to lead after-school and summer programs in Columbus, OH. You will teach youth ages 8–18, develop lesson plans, coordinate rehearsals, and present music theory in an engaging, supportive environment.

The role emphasizes creativity, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression through music, with schedule Monday through Friday after school and full-time seasonal coverage as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Music preferred, or specialized music training.
  • Knowledge of various musical instruments including piano, percussion, vocals, guitar, and steel drums.
  • Strong understanding of music theory including rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, form, texture, and dynamics.
  • Experience teaching music, leading rehearsals, and working with youth required.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Use your passion and creativity to teach youth various musical instruments and vocal techniques
  • Educate and instruct youth ages 8–18 in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment
  • Develop music lesson plans and curriculum

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. during the school year; 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. during Summer months
