Job description

The Evergreen State College seeks a highly skilled and inspiring musician/educator for a full-time, regular* faculty position in ethnomusicology beginning in September 2027. This position reflects the college’s commitment to inclusive, interdisciplinary team teaching and curricular innovation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate potential to serve a highly diverse population of undergraduate students as a progressive, inclusive, and creative educator who will ensure the visibility and growth of the performing arts at Evergreen.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively lead an ensemble at a high artistic and pedagogical level. Responsibilities will also include teaching, recruiting, and providing leadership in the candidate’s relevant applied research or performance areas consistent with School needs. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the development of inclusive and culturally responsive programming and demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners.

*Regular is equivalent to tenure-track at other colleges. A complete description of the continuing contract and conversion process can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, article 11 . Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Employment-based visa sponsorship may be considered depending on the candidate’s current immigration status; however, the College is unable, at this time, to sponsor new H1B petitions that could potentially incur the $100,000 fee announced in September 2025.
