Job summary

Palatine Park District's Music Director for Shrek the Musical will set the musical vision for the production and teach it to the cast. The role involves auditioning, scheduling rehearsals, preparing performance schedules, running rehearsals and performances, and accompanying singers on piano.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in music or music education, prior experience directing productions, and a willingness to work outside regular hours for auditions and rehearsals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music and/or music education strongly preferred.
• Experience directing productions and familiarity with the musical production process.
• Ability to accompany choir or chorus on piano.
• Willingness to prepare outside of working hours for auditions and rehearsals.

Palatine Park District is searching for a talented Music Director for the upcoming production of Shrek the Musical. If you have a passion for music anda mind for teaching music and working collaboratively , then this is the perfect match for you.

Under the general direction of the Cultural Arts Coordinator, the Music Director’s role is to set the vision music of the production and teach it to the cast . The Music Director will audition, schedule rehearsals, prepareperformanceschedules, run rehearsals and musicalperformances and accompany singers.

• Bachelor’s degree inmusic and/or music educationis strongly preferred.
• Must have previous experience music directing productionsand should be familiar with the musical production process.
• Must be able to accompany choir or chorus on piano
• Must be willing to prepare outside of working hours to come into auditions and rehearsals prepared.
