Amazon MGM Studios is seeking an experienced Music Catalog Manager to oversee the music catalog, rights administration, and licensing workflows for film and television productions. Qualifications

  • 4+ years of entertainment industry deal negotiation experience
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • 4+ years of experience in music catalog management, music rights administration, and/or music licensing
  • Deep understanding of sync licensing, music rights, and entertainment industry rights structures
  • Proven experience in film/TV music or music catalog management
  • Familiarity with music metadata standards, catalog management systems, and rights tracking tools
  • Bachelor's degree in music business, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Organize and catalog the extensive Amazon MGM music library, establishing comprehensive systems from the ground up
  • Maintain accurate and detailed metadata for all compositions, recordings, and associated rights
  • Track rights ownership, licensing terms, usage restrictions, and expiration dates across the entire catalog
  • Develop and implement scalable cataloging standards and best practices
  • Manage relationship with Publishing Administrators of the catalog
  • Clear music rights for synchronization licensing across film, television, streaming, and commercial applications
  • Identify and verify all rights holders including publishers, record labels, composers, and performers
  • Negotiate licensing terms, fees, and usage parameters with rights holders
  • Secure synchronization licenses, sound recording (master) use licenses, and other necessary clearances
  • Track requests and route through appropriate approval channels and accounting channels
  • Create scalable workflows for catalog tracking, rights management, and clearance requests
  • Implement tools and databases for metadata management, rights tracking, and reporting
  • Establish documentation standards and knowledge management systems
  • Drive continuous improvement in catalog operations and stakeholder experience

Job description

Amazon MGM Studios is seeking an experienced Music Catalog Manager to oversee and manage the Amazon MGM Studios Music Catalog. This position requires a detail-oriented music professional who deeply understands music rights, sync licensing, catalog administration, and the intersection of creative and legal considerations in film and TV music. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, highly organized, and able to build sustainable systems while managing complex music rights negotiations.

Key job responsibilities
  • Catalog Organization, Data & Asset Management:
    • Organize and catalog the extensive Amazon MGM music library, establishing comprehensive systems from the ground up
    • Maintain accurate and detailed metadata for all compositions, recordings, and associated rights
    • Track rights ownership, licensing terms, usage restrictions, and expiration dates across the entire catalog
    • Develop and implement scalable cataloging standards and best practices

A day in the life
  • Clearance & Licensing Expertise:

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of entertainment industry deal negotiation experience
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with legacy catalog management or music library organization
  • Knowledge of film & TV music production workflows and post-production processes
  • Familiarity with tools and platforms for data management, hosting, distributing, and licensing content, such as Airtable, etc.
  • Understanding of international rights management and territorial licensing
  • Experience with music supervision or creative music licensing

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
