Work Schedule: Saturday- 9:45 am to 4:00 pm & Sunday- 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Additional hours may be available based on the Museum's needs.This recruitment is open to all qualified applicants and will establish an eligibility list which will be used to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill any other openings in this classification which occur in the next 12 months. All Museum Clerks are trained and available to work at the Kenosha Public Museum, Civil War Museum, and the Dinosaur Discovery Museum.
Under general supervision, this position provides excellent customer service to Museum guests. Assist with various duties pertaining to the Museum Stores and Visitor Services. Work is reviewed through conferences, observation of work in progress, and written reports for results obtained and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Greets visitors and provides customer service; provides specific information and assistance related to programs or services provided by assigned area.
- Handles cash and credit card transactions and balances cash drawers.
- Process workshop registrations and membership sales.
- Maintain store cleanliness and restock merchandise as necessary.
- Visual merchandising and general inventory duties.
- Knowledge of the Museums, telephone etiquette and excellent keyboard skills.
- Answers telephone and receives inquiries and/or complaints, providing information based on considerable knowledge of programs and activities, or referring callers to appropriate personnel, as necessary; routes messages for Department personnel, as necessary.
- Duties include a variety of retail and receptionist tasks and/or responsible public contact work.
- Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet and/or file maintenance programs to enter, store and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary; summarizes data in preparation of standardized reports.
- Performs other work as requested or assigned. Incumbent may have the opportunity to develop additional expertise in assigned areas.
Training and Experience:- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of general retail and receptionist experience including cashiering, computer operations and public or customer service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must have keyboard skills and proficiency with a varied range of computer application programs.
- Must be able to type at a rate consistent with departmental needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of departmental and municipal rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office terminology, methods, practices and procedures.
- Skill in the operation of modern office equipment.

Physical Requirements:- Task involves some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, or frequent lifting (5 - 25 pounds); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment.
- Task may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard.
Environmental Requirements:- Task is regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Sensory Requirements:- Task requires sound perception and discrimination.
- Task requires visual perception and discrimination.
- Task requires oral communications ability.
Other Requirements:- Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- May be required to provide a personal vehicle for use on the job.
